The U.S. Army’s fighting know-how

“Korea-U.S. noncoms put their heads together for win-win and development.”

On March 25, the Non-Commissioned Officers Academy invited 16 people, including surgeon majors of the 8th U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps and the 7th U.S. air force in Korea, U.S. war veterans, and surgeon majors of the Army, Navy and Air Force academies for noncommissioned officers, to show its innovative education and training system. All attendees had a meaningful time as they shared their opinions about the development direction of actual training and listened to the U.S. Army about fighting know-how and combat experiences.

The U.S. soldiers visited a highly intensive training field first and especially gave a big hand when they saw “offensive combat firing training”, which operates a shell-drop, K-3 live fire, smoke shell, 60mm mortar, K-201 grenade launcher for cultivating experts of commanding small unit combat, and “combat in built-up areas training” for mastering combat skills, wearing the third generation MILES (Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System).

Major General Shin Man-taek, the principal of NCOA, said, “It was a meaningful time in which we could have a serious discussion about each other’s combat system and education and training system as well as look in more evolutive directions.”
