First Korea-U.S. EOD Contest for Sharing "Explosive Ordnance Disposal" Know-how

The Korean Army 8-Ammunition Depot EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) Unit was the best team in the first Korea-U.S. EOD Contest.

The first Korea-U.S. EOD Contest was held at the Rodriguez Range in Pocheon, Gyeonggi-do, on May 21-22. The contest was held to share explosive ordnance disposal know-how between both countries and build up an organic cooperation system.

There were four Korean Army teams and two U.S. Army teams in the contest. As a result of the preliminary round, the Korean Army 8-Ammunition Depot EOD Unit and U.S. 718 EOD Company made it to the final round.

Both teams showed their expertise to the fullest, and ultimately the Korean Army 8-Ammunition Depot EOD Unit won the contest by a hair.

The Ammunition Support Command set an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) that was jointly produced by four Korea-U.S. EOD experts as a task in order to evaluate the expertise of participant teams. The IED was designed to make a buzzer sound in case EOD fails.
