The event for communication and harmony of the civil and military held by the Navy and Marine Corps wrapped up in success.

Naval Operations Command opened their vessel to the public at Busan base of operation on October 3 and 4. Around 8,900 people gathered to take part in the event, which focused on realizing the desired image of the Navy with the public as well as developing people’s sense of national security.

Three naval vessels, 7,600-ton class Aegis destroyer (DDG), the Seoae Ryu Seong-ryong, 4,400-ton destroyer (DDH-II), the Wang Geon, and 2,600-ton landing ship (LST), Hyang Ro Bong, took part in this event.

People who visited the unit looked all around the vessels including the bridge and combat support troops. They also had a chance to wear the Navy and naval cadets’ full-dress uniform and take commemorative photographs.

The highlight of the event was to experience sailing. The three vessels made a voyage twice a day between Busan base of operations and Haeundae, and people on board could watch a demonstration of a high-speed boat rushing out and a flight of Lynx.

Meanwhile, Yeonpyeong unit, the Marine Corps, held its unit opening event for families to spend two nights and three days with their sons on October 3 to 5. The event was attended by 63 members of “Yeonpyeong Unit”, the official Internet cafe of the unit.

The event was attended by families and friends of soldiers of Yeonpyeong. After touring the K9 self-propelled gun, observation post and other convenient facilities, they had a question-and-answer session with commanders to solve their curiosities.
