Top-class ranked consecutively by the UN Mission in Lebanon

 

 

 

The Dongmyeong unit in Lebanon is getting credit for its superior mission capability. It has been ranked the highest level following evaluation by the Western brigade, United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon(UNIFIL).

 

The unit received the highest evaluation, Excellent & Satisfactory, for the recent mission readiness.

 

When a situation occurred, Dongmyeong unit immediately transmitted relevant matters to related organizations – Western brigade, Lebanese Army, local police and government offices, and the rapid reaction team moved out in four minutes after receiving notice of the situation.

 

In nine minutes, they arrived at the scene and completed “control of the area”, “identification of additional threats”, “separation the UN forces from threatening forces”, “rescue of the UN forces from danger” and “leaving the scene” just in 10 minutes. It only took 23 minutes from the initial situation notification to complete necessary measures. It was the shortest in history among subordinate forces of UNIFIL.

 

The head of the evaluation group, Finish Naval Captain Jori Harju, had a high opinion of Dongmyeong unit as the best in UNIFIL, saying that the unit was perfect in exact understanding of the situation, readiness and immediate reaction to mobilization.

 

He especially highly praised the situational model, a system developed by the Dongmyeong unit itself, that transmits the situation to and shares it with not only a higher level of command but also related organizations such as local police and government offices, and he made a decision to spread and encourage it.

 

Meanwhile, on May 13, the unit was also ranked “Excellent” from an unexpected evaluation on unit protection posture within just a month after they were deployed in Lebanon.
