ADMM-Plus triggers ROK-Cambodia national defense cooperation

—Contribution to international peacekeeping operations through triangulation with the UN—

On the occasion of his presence at the 9th ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) in Cambodia, Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup met with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Tea Banh on November 24.

Minister Lee stated that at the ASEAN-ROK summit on the 11th, President Yoon Suk Yeol announced the ROK's Indo-Pacific strategy, and recalled that while respecting ASEAN-centeredness, our implementation of the Indo-Pacific Strategy is to be carried out in accordance with the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP). He called attention to the Korea-ASEAN Solidarity Initiative (KASI) presented by President Yoon to strengthen cooperation with ASEAN.

Shortly after the defense ministers' meeting, the two ministries signed a memorandum of understanding on international peacekeeping operations (PKO MOU) and on the provision of engineering equipment.
