Vice Defense Minister Shin Beom-chul meets with US representatives of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS)



On the morning of December 2nd (Friday), Vice Minister of National Defense Shin Beom-cheol met with a delegation from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), including CSIS President and CEO John J. Hamre, CSIS Senior Vice President Victor Cha, and former US Ambassador to ROK Kathleen Stephens, who were in Korea for the JoongAng Ilbo-CSIS forum. They exchanged views on security on the Korean Peninsula and regional security.



In response to the CSIS delegation's questions, Vice Minister Shin explained the main points of the Korean government's Indo-Pacific strategy, stating that through this strategy, Korea will play a responsible role in the international community in accordance with its increased national prestige and status.



Vice Minister Shin expressed great gratitude to the CSIS group for their proposals on different approaches to denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula and promoting stability and peace in the Indo-Pacific region. The vice minister called for continuing support for the future growth of the ROK-US alliance.
