8th Arc unit begins dispatching education

The 8th UAE military training cooperation group, Arc unit, held an organization ceremony at Army Special Forces Training Corps on June 3 and started dispatching education for outright mission completion.

The 8th Arc unit, which will be sent to UAE as a part of military cooperation with the UAE army, consists of 131 soldiers of UDT/SEAL centering on agents from the special operations command. They are going to carry out educational training support and combined exercises for UAE special forces in a time of peace, and have the task of protecting Koreans living in UAE in a time of emergency. 

Many experienced people who have been dispatched before engage in this selected unit to make missions complete even in a new operation environment under hot temperatures of more than 50℃ and in desert areas. The unit also includes the most elite soldiers who can maximize the educational training performance for the UAE military.

They were selected after an intense competition of 5.4 to 1 on average and will get everything in readiness, with a slogan of “The world’s best! Unbeatable Arc!” for five weeks, not only to maximize tactics and technique capabilities necessary for completing dispatched missions, such as counterterrorism training, high altitude low opening (HALO) and improvised explosive device removal, but also to conduct missions right away by cultivating the quality of military diplomacy through education of Arabic language and Islamic culture.

Brigadier General Kyeong Bong-su, a head of the special warfare education group, who conducted the ceremony said, “I hope all the members of 8th Arc unit do their best at the educational training for perfect mission completion in the field with a enormous sense of pride and responsibility as national representatives and military diplomats.”
