The 118 early warning group of the first naval fleet raised the united defense posture in Ulleung-do to a higher level with intensive training.

The military and police got this intelligence, then immediately operated a joint situation room and checkpoint as well as opened an integrated defense support center in accordance with proclamation of an integrated defense situation.

It carried out the intensive operation with a three-line concept of Lynx, an antisubmarine helicopter, maritime police vessel in the 1,500-ton class, and RIB, a rigid inflatable boat, and the training was terminated as the invading enemy was rounded up by the strike force combining the private, public, military and police.

118 Commander, Colonel Lee Sang-gon, who conducted this training, said, “It has significance in that we improved the defense capability of island area and at that this stage the strategic military value of Ulleung-do is improved due to the growing security situation in Northeast Asia. We will continue the cooperation system with the private, public, military and police to establish an effective command system in time of emergency.”
