The Naval Cruise Training Flotilla (NCTF, Rear Admiral Cheon Jung-soo, commander) has improved our military’s status through medical service activities, not through vessel diplomacy.

The flotilla started the medical activities at Caritas Women’s Vocational High School located in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea(PNG), on September 24.

The Medical Team, consisting of five naval surgeons, one nurse officer, two medical noncoms and one medic, treated approximately 200 local residents for internal and surgical diseases and traumas and dental problems, and prescribed medicines.

“I wish to help those people get well through the medical services we provide here in PNG, which suffers from the lack of medical infrastructure,” said Captain Yu Jin-soo, who supervised the medical service activities.

The flotilla also donated 100 items of women’s clothing to the school after volunteering.

In the afternoon of the same day, the performance team of CTF showed our culture through a splendid performance at the rugby field of the military headquarters, Murray Barracks.

The team received a great response and applause from 1,300 local students and citizens for the martial music performance as well as Samulnori, honor guard and Taekwondo demonstration. The PNG sing-sing dance team consisted of the locals also performed, showing the harmony with our military.

The flotilla will put in at Jakarta, Indonesia, on October 2.
