Security movie the Ministry of National Defense(MND) produced with 3D techniques wins first prize at 3D Korea International Film Festival(3D KIFF).

MND said on October 17 that “Day Dreaming”, a security film produced for the 60th anniversary of the ceasefire of the 6·25 War last year, won the first prize in the short film field at the sixth 3D KIFF.

The 3D KIFF, started in 2009, is the special 3D film festival that collects 3D films from around the world and presents awards, and it is considered the prominent festival along with the U.S. LA 3D International Film Festival. This sixth festival was held at Broadway theater, Lotte Cinema, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, from October 15 to 17.

“Day Dreaming”, which was among the first security movies invited to the 3D KIFF, was produced with Full 3D actual images to describe the true circumstances of North Korean military threats. This 10 minute, 9 second movie is directed by Regan, Lee Kyung-sik, who won for best director.

A young main character acted by Kim Mu-yeol, who has no idea how hard 6·25 Korean War was, is surfing the Internet with his smart phone and by chance, he gets to know the actual circumstances about the North Korean military provocation as well as the truth and fear of the war. Finally he realizes the meaning of the peace he enjoys with the importance of security.

“Day Dreaming” is noteworthy for providing a new milestone for security movie production and new sympathy with the audience by featuring trendy items, high-tech production techniques and a story hovering between reality and virtual.

MND is now showing the movie at Lee Byeong Hyeong Hall, the War Memorial of Korea in Yongsan, Seoul, for free and using it as content for security education for military personnel.

“We will keep digging up new items for security movies and producing video contents that get down to the audience’s level with creative stories and production techniques,” said MND.

Meanwhile, at the awards ceremony held at Riverside Hotel, Seocho-gu, Seoul, on October 17, director general for spiritual force planning, Jung Dae-hyun, head of cultural affairs policy division, Choi Hwan-cheol and Director Regan shared the happiness of winning the award.
