“Unfailing” supply and demand of offshore petroleum

“Unfailing” supply and demand of offshore petroleum

The 2014 Republic of Korea Naval Cruise Flotilla, in which about 140 of the 69th Naval sea cadets participated, started actual flagship training (Rear Admiral Cheon Jung-su, commander). On September 30, the flotilla conducted supply-demand of offshore petroleum between Choi Yeong Ham and Cheon Ji Ham in the middle of the South Pacific while heading for Sydney, Australia, the second port of call.

The purpose is to maintain the sustainability of the battleship as a combat support ship, AOE, supplies petroleum to the ship on marine maneuvers. Since they were 45m away from each other, it was of importance that those two vessels should keep their course and speed constant. The operation went well with unerring accuracy from shooting connecting wires, which is for moving tanker and phone, to installing the tanker into Cheon Ji Ham after fixing the wires in the Pacific.

All the cadets engaged in the training, checking hard-working sailors for replenishment and operations procedures thoroughly, watching the offshore supply-demand operations in their assigned positions.
