The 1st Marine Division has raised its mission capability to a higher level through actual training.

On November 1, the landing support battalion of the division successfully completed the opening training of a beach exit around a mud flat area.

The training started on October 26 and was conducted around Ganghwa bridge, Incheon, and the landing training ground, Swaeam-ri, Gimpo, to ensure perfect landing operations even under the worst conditions.

The Marine Corps, whose main mission is landing operations, has to open an exit near the beach for smooth maneuvers of crawler equipment whose movement on sand and mud flats is vulnerable.

For this, the landing support battalion developed intensive training with engineering, maintenance and tank battalions of the 2nd Marine division and Army‘s river-crossing company.

Reducing time for opening the beach exit and determining the fighting forces required for the next beach mat that can overcome mud flats, wetland and sand areas, they have developed a mission-readiness posture.

On October 30, the division also had a combined training with relevant organizations for protecting national major facilities, assuming enemy infiltration and terrorism situations.

The training was carried out around POSCO and Pohang new port and attended by about 900 people from the logistics support group of the division, Pohang harbor defense battalion, the reserves regiment and security guard with 36 types of equipment such as Korea Amphibious Assault landing Vehicle (KAAV) and UH-1H, helicopter.

After the situation in which abandoned matter was found by a security guard, Pohang new port, initial action, defense support and input of anti-terrorism unit were proceeded in stages.

The training was closed with immediate action for explosives found at a POSCO gas center, and tracking and suppression of terrorist elements.

The division activated a video conference system for smooth cooperation with the relevant organizations and input a special reconnaissance platoon and special security guard of military police, who were assigned for anti-terrorism missions, at a suitable time and place, so that they could finish the situation in the early stages.
