Building a perfect system for evacuation of the wounded of war

The 20th Fighter Wing conducted the country’s first “Korea-U.S. combined Dust Off” training with the U.S. 6-52 air defense artillery squadron. “Dust Off” is the tactical call sign for the U.S. armed forces’ medical convey operation, and when there is a severely wounded soldier, it evacuates the emergency patient. The training is expected to be helpful for rapid and effective treatment of the wounded at war since the U.S. medical helicopter can be used for transporting a patient to the U.S. medical facility located at Osan base when it’s hard to get to domestic hospitals by land due to the long distance.

“It was the first Korea-U.S. combined dust off training. We will make an effort to build a perfect medical evacuation system as well as enhance mutual ties between the two countries,” said Lieutenant Lee Je-hun, the aeromedical evacuation squadron commander of the 20th Fighter Wing.

Meanwhile, the U.S. 6-52 air defense artillery squadron is the Patriot to be deployed at the 20th FW automatically when switching over to wartime.
