Korea, USA and Japan agree to closely work together to solve the North Korean nuclear weapons issue

 

The Korean and U.S. Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Choi Yun-hee and General Martin Dempsey, and Chief of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces’ Joint Staff, General Iwasaki Sigeru, had a meeting in Hawaii,

where the Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC) is on-going, on July 1 local time to discuss changes in the regional security environment including the North Korean nuclear and missile threats and share opinions about regional stability and promotion plans for peace as well.

 

The joint report made by those three chairmen right after the meeting said that they agreed to work together closely to solve the North Korean nuclear issues since it is a serious problem that cannot be ignored any longer.


This meeting for Korean, U.S. and Japanese Chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff was held at the insistence of the U.S.
