MND, keeping an eye on North Korea’s AN-2 training

On January 23, MND said that our military has recently been observing several of North Korea’s military activity trends closely, including training on AN-2.

In response to a question about the report that Kim Jong-un visited a special unit of North Korea and watched the training on AN-2, MND said, “He does seem to encourage the North Korean army, that’s why we are keeping a close eye on the movements of North Korea,” at the regular briefing on the same day.

Related to the defensive posture around an air base containing an airport, an MND official explained, “We give the air base with a civil airport three- to four-fold protection as usual. This is not an extra preparation due to the AN-2 training of North Korea.”
