Local residents’ big smile for Korea-U.S. medical services

The 38th Combat Wing visited a village near the base with the U.S. 8th Fighter Wing and provided combined medical services for the local residents.

The services were realized as the American medics who have been watching our regular medical support for the public applied their will to contribute to the local community, as a member of a stationed unit.

Fifteen people including Army internists, eye doctors, dentists, etc., participated in the medical services. They also changed a first-aid kit at the community hall and provided dietary supplements.

Captain Uhm Tae-woong, an Army doctor of the 38th Combat Wing who engaged in this event, gave thanks to the U.S. soldiers who voluntarily participated and expressed his will to continue the voluntary service for the local residents near the base, saying that it was a special memory being with the U.S. soldiers instead of solely conducting medical services so far.

“As a member of a Korea-U.S. joint base, I always try to fulfill my responsibilities and also I’m very glad to engage in this meaningful event. I’d like to help whenever the community needs my hands. And with my colleagues, I had a great time,” said Corporal Howard.
