“The urgency of the battlefield spreads before me.”

Around thirty officers of major rank and above of the Air Force Operations Command and U.S. 7th Air Force visited Yeonpyeongdo battle site to strengthen both air forces’ relationship and gather the will to fight.

This visit was delivered reflecting the commander’s intention to properly understand the reality of

national security through an actual visit to provocation sites such as Yeonpyeongdo and the Cheonan.

Both countries’ officers viewed a building that sustained damage from bombing and learned about tense engagement through an exhibition related to shelling and interview videos of local residents in the security education facility. Then, they received a briefing about unit status at an observatory of Yeonpyeong unit.

Major Park Yong-Soo said, “Like the saying, ‘One picture is worth a thousand words’, I could picture the circumstances at the time more vividly as I came here, the actual battlefield. I’ll keep trying to maintain the best readiness posture to respond to the enemy’s provocation at any time.”

The officers then visited Yeonpyeong Peace Park and honored the memory of the deceased in front of the Memorial Hall, on which images of the late Staff Sergeant Seo Jung-Woo and Private First Class Moon Kwang-Wook were carved, and the Monument of Battle of Yeonpyeong.

Major Paul Nelson of the U.S. 7th Air Force said, “I think this experience education was the best choice to promote the actual fighting will of Korean and U.S. soldiers. All of them will make every effort to protect the Korean people against any kind of enemy provocation.”
