[30th Division] Use all the resources just like actual warfare ... evaluating the mission capability of intelligence-gathering groups

Eagle Brigade, 30th Division, has assessed the mission capability of six intelligence-gathering groups that the brigade has been recently training.

The unit evaluated in difficult operational environments such as rough mountainous area, strong wind, heavy snow, etc., and in a similar fashion to actual warfare including operating opposing forces.

There were 12 tasks evaluators evaluated such as collection and reporting of intelligence, identification of the number of the enemy and its equipment, map reading, knowledge of first aid, obstacle overcoming, utilization of signal equipment, penetration techniques, safe-haven construction, striking, physical strength, personal arms firing, and firepower inducement and its damage. In particular, they assessed the intelligence-gathering groups’ ability through efficient penetration skills and accurate firepower inducement.

The team led by Staff Sergeant Seok Chang-Min ranked first after the strict and fair evaluation. He said the secret of the victory was that squad members cooperated with each other based on mutual trust.

“We are expecting that timely execution of missions can be possible for all operations through group education and evaluation of intelligence-gathering groups every six months,” said the unit official.
