Minister of National Defense Han Min-Koo receives U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Tony Blinken

Defense Minister Han Min-Koo and U.S. Deputy Secretary Tony Blinken were in agreement that the Korea-U.S. alliance is in top form.

Minister Han expressed his intentions to the Deputy Secretary, who visited Korea for the first time since his installation, and he said that the alliance provides a foundation for the Asian rebalancing strategy of America.

They also shared the same opinion that the South-North dialogue is helpful for the North’s denuclearization and that Japan should have the correct perception of history for security cooperation among Korea, the U.S. and Japan.

Meanwhile, at a regular briefing, Defense Department Spokesman Kim Min-Seok made clear that there was no discussion about the Theater of High Altitude Area Defense system (THAAD) during the courtesy visit of Deputy Secretary Blinken.
