Farewell ceremony for the 9th Ahk Unit, departing on March 10


The Army held a farewell ceremony for the 9th Ahk Unit, the dispatching unit to UAE, organized by the commander of the special forces, Jeon In-Beom, at the main training ground on March 3. 

The corpsmen consist of a UDT/SEAL and support group, mainly with special warfare, aerial combat and anti-terrorism team of the Army Special Warfare Command. They took a six-week hard training course to build up tactics and techniques ability for special warfare, anti-terrorism training, drop from a high altitude, removal of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) and situational emergency measures. 

Soldiers with unique experience in the 9th Ahk Unit are also an issue.

Lieutenant Colonel Ko Il-Yeong, a commanding officer, completed all the training courses related to special warfare and anti-terrorism such as parachute landing fall, jumpmaster, drop from a high altitude, etc. He also has more than 300 drop experiences including jumping from the sky.

Sergeant Major Kwon Ki-Hyuk, Master Sergeant Ahn Hoe-Pal, Han Jin-Guk, Jung Jin-Sun and Im Jong-Young face the challenge of overseas dispatch for a third time. And, Sergeant Major Park Hyun-Soo and Sergeant First Class Choi Won-Bin are to perform the overseas dispatch mission following their grandfather, a veteran of the Vietnam war.

The 9th Ahk Unit is departing on March 10 by chartered plane after the farewell ceremony, and carrying out their mission in the Al Ain area, the UAE.
