The 38th Fighter Group(FG) held an arming contest with the U.S. 8th Fighter Wing(FW) on April 25.

The contest was to improve both arming mechanics’ arming ability as well as check air operations support ability through quick arming in time of emergency.

Six teams from four units of the 38th FG and 8th FW engaged in the contest and each representative performed well in the competition, boosting the capability he has been polishing.

There was an event game to test how quickly and stably the mechanics could move dummy ammunition with a water glass on it to a designated area by an armored transport(MJ-1).

“I felt a little bit uncomfortable thinking of contest, but it was a good time to be reminded of the importance of arms maintenance by going over the arming procedure we’ve been training for,” said Staff Sergeant Choi Sung-woon from the 38th FG.

And the battalion commander of war machines, Song Sang-hoon said, “Rapid and accurate arming is an essential factor for the best air operations support. I hope this contest serves as a great chance to develop both sides’ arming techniques and combined air operations capability.”
