Asked to cooperate with MND in time at the time of the accident

 

 

 

Vice Minister of National Defense Baek Seung-joo visited the U.S. 8th training ground, Rodriguez, where a ricochet accident occurred on April 15 in Pocheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, to check the circumstances around the ground.

 

He asked to share information about causes of the accident to prevent future such accidents, saying cooperation in time with the MND is needed, from finding causes to creating safety measures for accidents by any chance.

 

Vice Minister Baek heard details about the recent accident from the deputy commander of the U.S. 8th Army, Major General Brian J. McKiernan, and checked the progress of finding causes and taking further safety measures.

 

Deputy Commander McKiernan expressed his regret for the accident despite considering safety actions enough, and said, “We are now prohibiting the same training until the investigation is over and we have perfect safety measures.”

 

During a national safety diagnosis from the middle of last February to the end of this month, Vice Minister Baek has been pursuing safety inside and outside the military such as safety check.
