The 1st Marine Division developed KMEP with the U.S. III-MEF

Korean and U.S. Marine military police officers increased their wartime operational capability through a two-week tactical exchange and acquisition.
 
The military police, the 1st Marine Division, has been conducting Korea a Marine Exercise Program (KMEP) with the U.S. Military Police, the subordinate force of III-MEF (the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force) since May 11. The training will last until the 22nd with around 240 military police officers in Pohang, Gyeongbuk. It focuses on sharing the U.S. Marine Military Police’s operational skills accumulated through dispatches to Iraq and exchanging mutual tactics.
 
They are also carrying out various missions such as individual and/or small group movement to a city area, mastering combat skills, investigation techniques in wartime, control of enemy prisoners of war and civilian internees, VIP guard, collection of information, hunting down suspected subversives and handling training, etc. They will also raise their teamwork and equipment operability through a live fire exercise of individual and crew-served weapons and ranger training.
