The Dongmyeong, unit which is conducting PKO missions in Lebanon, has recorded 80,000 local patients for medical support and the numbers continue to rise.

It is the achievement of eight years of dispatch. And, when considering there are 50,000 residents in the area of responsibility, the meaning stands out.

There are virtually no residents who have not received medical treatment from the unit.
Medical service of the unit started in 2007 and is provided in the form of a visiting medical service going around five villages in the southern part of Lebanon on a daily basis. Its high quality service has become so popular that 60-70 patients visit the unit everyday. Other than the traveling clinic, the unit plays a pivotal role in local health and medical treatment by maintaining a “24-hour regular medical support system” at the post, treating emergency patients who visit the unit in a timely manner.

Captain Cho Young-rong, a nurse officer, said, “One day, a grandmother who came to here to get a treatment held my hand and said, ‘Thank you very much. You’re a gift from God.’ It was my job as part of the medical team, but after seeing her being so thankful, I promised to treat patients with all my heart more than before.”
