“Regardless of who will become the next U.S. President, the Korea-U.S. alliance will maintain stable”

“The importance of the Korea-U.S. alliance, as well as support from the U.S. Congress for the development of U.S. foreign policy, will be firmly maintained, regardless of whoever is elected as the next US President.”

The U.S. Senate delegation leader Dan Sullivan, who visited Korea, promised to strongly support the Korea-U.S. alliance at his meeting with the Minister of National Defense, Han Min-koo.

Following the meeting with the U.S. Senate delegates on May 30, Minister Han received the US House delegates on June 2, doing his best to gain support in addressing the issues that plague the Korean Peninsula.

He spoke to the delegates regarding his appreciation for the U.S. Congress’ efforts and support for North Korean denuclearization - such as their adoption of a number of sanctions - and explained that both defense ministries have been cooperating on worldwide security issues. On this matter, Senator Cory Gardner indicated that there has been close cooperation between Korea and the U.S. in the implementation of these sanctions.

The Chairman of Foreign Affairs, U.S. House Representative Ed Royce, said, “Korea represents the most successful and outstanding case in US diplomacy, where the US intervened to establish a democracy and support economic reconstruction." He confirmed that there was a stronger alliance between the two countries than ever before.

A Ministry of National Defense official said, “We will keep devoting our efforts to spread America’s support for the Korea-U.S. alliance centering the U.S. chattering classes.”
