Taking care of residents and livestock as well

Dongmyeong unit, which has been conducting PKO missions in Tyre, southern Lebanon, has also become a guardian angel that protects residents and their livestock.

On May 12, the Joint Chiefs of Staff said that the 17th unit has provided medical treatment to 20,000 animals, the most important asset and food supply, for local residents since its first dispatch in July of 2007. After the December attacks in 2011, the unit had indirectly diagnosed and treated animals based on owners’ explanations in Tyre City Hall. Meanwhile, considering the residents’ earnest requests, the unit has started to visit them in person this month, after 4 years and 5 months of the attacks in 2011.
