Korea-Vietnam defense meeting focused on advancing bilateral defense and industry cooperation

On March 28 in the afternoon, Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup held a meeting with Vietnamese Defense Minister Phan Van Giang during his visit to Korea.

The meeting between the Korean and Vietnamese Defense Ministers marks the second time they have met since the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting-Plus (ADMM-Plus) in Cambodia in November of the previous year. At that time, the two Ministers agreed to visit each other's countries.

During their meeting, the two Ministers evaluated the upgraded "comprehensive and strategic partnership" between their countries, which was established on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations. They also deliberated on specific measures to broaden and enhance their defense and defense industry cooperation.

Furthermore, the two Ministers concurred on the need to reinforce future-oriented defense and defense industry cooperation between their nations. This would be founded on the basis of the strong and cooperative bilateral relationship that has seen remarkable growth over the past 30 years.
