“I feel better putting my sons in the military if quality of the military food service continues improving, in a way that matches their taste and their perspective.”

On July 20, Dong Hee-sook, a mother participating in the 3rd mothers' monitoring group for food service in military, Defense Agency for Technology and Quality (DTAQ), said, “I could actually watch while the military food supply was being managed, safely and sanitarily, with my own eyes.”

DTAQ created an opportunity for the 3rd mothers monitoring group for food service in the military to visit the 1st Navy Fleet and investigate the safety and taste of sailors’ food items for themselves.

15 mothers have eaten the military meals on board the fleet which is actually under the operation of the Navy, and checked the cookhouse and food storehouse as well. They also had an opportunity for conversation with a captain on the management of sailors.

Since the launch of the 1st monitoring group in 2014, the mothers directly take part in the production, distribution, cooking and feeding of the military food service so that they can not only check the safety of the food but make great contributions through various suggestions to improve the system.

Media liaison Kim Pil-geun, DTAQ, said, “This mothers' monitoring group, which suggests improvements and development directions for the military food service from a mother’s perspective, is an ideal Government 3.0 project, in which government communicates with the people. This type of break from our closed military culture has been well-received since it lets the people know about the military food service.”
