Sing a song of security and peace with your whole body

On July 19, the MND held its ‘2016 World Soldier & Youth Unification Security Vision Presentation Contest,’ with 22 teams from 10 nations around the world competing.

With the theme of ‘Peace on the Korean Peninsula and a Strong Role for youth based on Strong Security,’ 22 teams freely expressed their vision of security in diverse creative ways, including presentations, plays, conte, musicals, dance, composite art, and more.

In particular, the overseas teams, which consisted of 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants working together with the National Unification Advisory Council, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, expressed the diaspora of the Korean people and the fetters of modern and contemporary history, touching many people.

After the first contest last year, 507 teams from 12 countries went through a fierce preliminary 23 to 1, starting in May, for this second contest. Soldiers and cadets engaged in several preliminary contests and each headquarters’ final preliminary contests, and 7 teams advanced to the finals, a highly competitive rate of 56 to 1.

All the teams who entered the final will have various security experience camps from July 20 to 22, and receive a ‘certificate of security leader’ with a completion ceremony.

Vice-minister of Defense Hwang In-moo, who organized the contest, said, “I was so touched to see our soldiers and young people around the world giving such considerable thought to Korean security. I’m sure this interest and support for strong security in our youth will be a future asset for Korea.”
