16th Air Force Fighter Wing (hereinafter referred to as 16th Fighter Wing) had a consolidated training for day-night base protection, as part of the 16-3rd combat readiness exercise associated with Ulchi Freedom Guardian (UFG) on August 24 and 25.

Following the air force-army combined counterterrorism training and CBR training, the 16th Fighter Wing carried out a mission of 24-hour base protection to enhance mission maintenance capability during war.

Significantly, the unit created an actual-combat-like training environment by operating opposing forces and virtual enemy aircraft and describing a combat situation with a paint gun.

Colonel Kim Kyung-min, commander of the base protection group of the 16th Fighter Wing who organized the training, said, “Through this base protection training, we improved our ability to react against various enemy attacks. We’ll continue the live environment training so that we can firmly cope with any kind of enemy provocation.”

Meanwhile, in addition to the base protection training during the UFG period, the 16th Fighter Wing had a variety of drills, such as continuous assembly of bulk ammunition, sortie during the war, mass patients relief activity, etc. and improved their combat mission capability in times of war.
