Republic of Korea Fleet Command, Vice Admiral Jung Jin-sub, Commander, held a welcome ceremony at Jinhae naval port in the morning on February 27 for the 22nd Cheonghae anti-piracy unit, The Munmu the Great-Class destroyers, which was returing home after completing their mission in Somali waters.

Around 1,000 people attended the ceremony which was managed by major commanders, sailors and families of Cheonghae soldiers, etc., which was led by naval operations commander Jung Jin-sub, and celebrated the soldiers’ safe return and mission completion.

During the unit’s dispatch, which started in August 2016, it perfectly fulfilled its mission of escorting Korean and overseas vessels. In addition, the unit carried out a humanitarian aid operation of fueling a yacht that was drifting about the Gulf of Aden due to a lack of fuel, and supported safe navigation for more than 1,100 ships, etc., helping to return to Seychelles of the Korean Kwang Hyun No.801 safely when it was being towed due to a malfunctioning engine.
