Hyesanjin brigade (Capital Mechanized Infantry Division) held a mortar firing exercise around the training sites in Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon-do, from February 20 to 22. Around 110 troops from 3 battalions, a subordinate force of the brigade, participated in the training with 4.2 inch and 81mm mortars to build their actual firing power so that they will be ready to fire, whatever the circumstances.

For this firing training, the brigade proceeded with collective training for 1 week. All the soldiers to be sent for the training visited the training site in advance to eliminate factors that could impede safety as well as to engage in role-playing education and sabot projectile shooting, developing their sense of combat. They also checked out the equipment they would use in an actual training, making it an optimized training condition. In particular, the brigade improved the efficiency of their training by introducing a competition which selects a Top-Gun team, putting the scores of the collective education and actual firing results together.

Private first class Jung Hyun-bin, who was selected for the Top-Gun team, said, “I was able to build my sense of actual combat and confidence in the weapons I operate through this actual firing practice. I will maintain the best combat readiness condition I can, so that missions can be carried out immediately, anywhere and at any time”.
