Dongmyeong unit makes a clean ‘sweep’ of medals in shooting championship

‘Thumbs up’ for the unit’s marksmanship

The soldiers of Dongmyeong unit, which has been successfully carrying out the U.N. Peacekeeping Forces missions at Tyre in southern Lebanon has demonstrated its superiority one more time.

On February 8, the unit announced “all Dongmyeong soldiers had accomplished the splendid feat of winning the ‘Dispatching countries shooting championship’ recently held by United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL)“.

The championship has been held once a year to work on unity, and promote cooperation among the UNIFIL dispatching countries.

In tthis match, around 120 troops from 11 countries including Germany, Indonesia, France, etc. participated in and Dongmyeong unit threw its hat into the ring with 11 soldiers including Lieutenant Colonel Kim Jin-pyung, the chief of staff.

Dongmyeong soldiers won 3 golds, 3 silvers and 5 bronzes in total, showing off their great shooting skills. It was the only unit in which all participating soldiers won a medal.

Sergeant first class Lee Kyung-hun, a one-shot-one-hit gold medal winner, said, “I’d glad I contributed to enhancing the position of the unit as well as the Korean Armed Forces. I’m committed to finishing our assigned missions perfectly, and letting the world know our army’s outstanding mission capabilities.”
