“Considering every possible action, including strategic asset allocation by the US”

To respond to the threat of North Korea’s nuclear weapons, weapons of mass destruction (WMD), and ballistic missiles, Korea and the US have decided to consider every possible action, including the strategic allocation of US assets through the Korea-US Deterrence Strategy Committee.

The Ministry of National Defense announced the results of the meeting of the 11thKIDD (Korea-US Integrated Defense Dialogue), which was held in Washington on April 26th and 27th (local standard time).

According to the announcement, both sides promised close cooperation through the Security Policy Initiative (SPI) Committee, to review measures to curb North Korea’s provocation and force them to give up their nuclear and missile program.

The MND said, “Both Korea and the US have decided to reinforce critical and interoperable defense capabilities like intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and missile defense. We have reconfirmed the US’s promise that they will use all deterrence capabilities to defend us from North Korea’s threats, including nuclear capabilities, conventional capabilities and missile defense capabilities.”

Head of the National Defense Policy Office Wee Seung-ho will attend the meeting as the chief delegate for Korea, along with the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Asian and Pacific Security Affairs David Helvey for the US, and other major officers. The 12thKIDD will be held in Seoul in the latter half of this year.
