Aiming at the enemy fleet like lightning

Aiming at the enemy fleet like lightning

The Air Force showed off its powerful firing capabilities to defend against the enemy’s maritime provocations, through live air-to-ship missile firing training sessions held above the East Sea. The Air Combat Command had live fire drills that applied ‘Close Air Support(CAS)’ for sea targets over the East Sea on April 28.

On this day, the training started with a request for close air support on the sea against virtual enemy fleets that infiltrated the East Sea.

The air combatants immediately scrambled the targets, using KF-16 fighters of the 20th Fighter Squadron and FA-50 fighters of the Air Force 16th Fighter Squadron.

As soon as those fighters arrived at the airspace with lightning speed, they identified the target and fired AGM-65G Maverick missiles on the simulated enemy fleet, neutralizing the trap that had been set up.

After the live fire training, Major Kwon Kang-min, a KF-16 fighter pilot said, “As fighter pilots, we are maintaining a more thorough readiness posture than ever considering the increased potential for enemy threats and provocations. Through this actual fighting exercise, we can further enhance our operational capabilities so that we can respond immediately to any of the enemy’s movements.”
