[Republic of Korean First Naval Fleet] Republic of Korean Navy

The Republic of Korean Navy held its first fleet level massive drill, which was carried out as a cooperative effort between active-duty forces and mobilization reserve forces.

On June 25, the Republic of Korean First Naval Fleet announced that it had conducted a fleet level massive drill for wartime in the East Sea harbor area and in their base camp from June 19 to June 21. The drill enabled mission capability improvement, and helped them secured the fullest level of combat power.

This drill is significant, as while in the past it was a small unit drill mainly held by reserve forces, it has now been expanded to a fleet level drill. It was carried out intensively as wartime preparation and was attended by every soldier from the First Naval Fleet and 180 soldiers from the mobilization reserve forces.

The soldiers from the First Naval Fleet and mobilization reserve forces carried out an integrated harbor protection drill that was a response to an infiltration by the enemy's special forces, a field tactical drill based on enemy missile and chemical weapons exposure, a harbor damage restoration drill, and a communication network damage restoration drill in the East Sea harbor area and in the base camp.

For the integrated harbor protection drill that was carried out at night, a joint force involving the government, the military, and the police including First Naval Fleet soldiers, mobilization reserve forces, the 57th Army Regiment, Donghae Police Station, Donghae Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries, and Fishery Information Communications Bureau was brought in to master how to block and destroy an infiltration of enemy special forces.
