[8th Fighter Wing] Safety is essential …… 4,000 hours of accident-free flight

The 203rd fighter squadron, 8th fighter wing, which pilots the Korean air craft FA-50, just achieved 4,000 hours of accident-free flight, a new record.

The 8th FA celebrated the 203rd squadron’s achievement of 4,000 hours of flight without any accidents and held an awards ceremony to boost the safety awareness of their pilots at the base auditorium on June 14.

The 4,000 accident-free flight hours milestone breaks a record set over 13 years and 8 months ago, in September 2003. It’s significant in that the squadron maintained the accident-free record even after it was transformed and re-established as a FA-50 fighter operating unit, which was developed by Korean technology in 2015, demonstrating the superiority of Korean aviation technology.

The 203rd squadron received a citation as a unit from the chief of staff, while Major Oh Dong-wook, Major Park Su-hyun and 3 other pilots received chief of staff citations and individual citations as well.
