On the 26th, the Army’s 17th division reconnaissance unit trained with fast ropes to improve their ability to master missions and enhance their readiness for local provocations.

The training was based on the premise that enemy forces that had infiltrated through the Yellow Sea had provoked a local provocation in the 215 Highland area of Gahyeon Mountain.

In order to initially defend this scenario, the unit used a Blackhawk (UH-60) helicopter to rapidly drop 200 men to the base of the opposing army to carry out exploration and destruction operations. Prior to the training, soldiers in the unit had undergone physical endurance training involving exercises related to towers, rappels and squats etc., which are essential for ensuring that soldiers can adopt a complete combat preparedness posture.

Private Doo-hyul Hwang, who was participating in the fast rope training for the first time, said "This training has given me the confidence that I am ready for anything. I will work hard in all the training exercises to become an elite warrior who can fight and defeat our enemies, whenever and wherever they attack.“

Park Seo-ho Park (Colonel), who led the training exercise, said, "As the nature of the reconnaissance unit means that they have the task of destroying enemies when they infiltrate with their enemy operations, it must always maintain a war posture through practical training exercises. I think that this fast rope training has contributed greatly to the ability of our soldiers to carry out their duties and to improve our capabilities in actual battles, and we will make sure that we maintain our readiness for actual battles by continuing to engage in various situation exercises like this in the future.".
