30 students at launch ceremony for 'M Friends' 8th term at War Memorial of Korea

The eighth term of M Friends was launched on April 7 at the War Memorial of Korea in Seoul, hosted by Vice Defense Minister Shin Beom-chul.

Inaugurated in 2016, M Friends is a college student online supporters group that helps facilitate communication with the Defense Ministry. The eighth term, consisting of 30 members, was selected through applications received from December 2022 to February 2023 via the ministry's social networking service.

The ceremony was held at the War Memorial of Korea, marking the first offline event in three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the aim of enhancing members' comprehension of defense policies and fostering security awareness.

The ceremony followed a sequence of speeches, appointment letter presentations, the pledge of M Friends activities, and a tour of the War Memorial.

M Friends is scheduled to cover defense policies, tour military units, and provide reports to the public until the end of the year.

Vice Defense Minister Shin encouraged the M Friends members to actively take part in events and to report on defense-related stories to the public with a strong sense of duty and responsibility as members of the Defense Ministry committed to safeguarding the nation.
