Minister Lee visits UAE Embassy in Korea

Expresses condolences on the death of the late president Khalifa

On the afternoon of May 18, the Minister of National Defense visited the UAE Embassy in Korea to express his condolences following the death of United Arab Emirates (UAE) president Khalifa bin Zaid Nahayan, and offered words of consolation.

“The ROK and the UAE raised the level of our bilateral ties to a ‘special strategic partnership’ during president Khalifa’s tenure. Our government will long remember this great contribution to the advancement of bilateral ties,” Lee said, adding that the UAE underwent dynamic development and took a leap forward to become a leading country in the Middle East and Africa region under the leadership of president Khalifa.

After offering condolences, Lee had talks with Abdullah, UAE Ambassador to Korea.

During the talks, Abdullah promised to “do his best as an ambassador to ensure the further advancement of bilateral ties between the ROK and the UAE, as president Khalifa would have wished.”
