Defense Minister attends Korea-Poland Strategic Dialogue

While visiting Poland, Defense Minister Shin Won Sik attended the Korea-Poland Strategic Dialogue held at the Airport Hotel Okecie on Friday, June 21 in the morning and gave the opening remarks together with Polish Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.

 

The event, attended by defense ministers, high-ranking military officers, Hanwha, KAI and PGZ, was co-hosted by the Casimir Pulaski Foundation, a promising Polish military think-tank, and Hyundai Rotem to hold an in-depth discussion on Korea-Poland defense industry cooperation.

 

In his opening remarks, Minister Shin said, “The Republic of Korea wishes to be a strategic collaborator and partner in strengthening Poland’s defense based on its defense capabilities developed over decades.”

 

After introductory remarks by Seok Jong-geon, Minister of the Defense Procurement Agency (DAPA), and Deputy Minister of National Defense Paweł Bejda, the governmental session of the event featured concrete discussions on bilateral defense industry cooperation.

 

In his introductory remarks, Minister Seok said, “In order to strengthen Poland’s defense capabilities, the signing of the contract for the second phase of the implementation of the K2 tanks is urgently needed,” and stressed the need for the fast execution of the second-phase implementation agreement for the K2PL, which will provide for the start of bilateral cooperation in joint production.
