Defense minister meets with Russia’s commander of land forces on the sidelines of ｢Seoul ADEX 2021｣

On Wednesday, October 20, Minister of National Defense Suh Wook met with Russia’s Commander of Land Forces, Oleg Saliukov, who was visiting the Republic of Korea (ROK) to participate in ‘Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition 2021 (Seoul ADEX 2021),’ and discussed ways to enhance defense exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, as well as the security situation in the region including the Korean Peninsula.

The two sides agreed to explore various ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, including the operation of a regular consultative body between defense authorities and boosting exchanges in each armed service, based on the defense cooperation agreement that was concluded between the defense authorities of the two countries this March.

Responding to Suh’s explanation of the ROK government’s effort to achieve denuclearization and establish peace on the Korean Peninsula, Saliukov said that Russia will provide active support to the ROK government’s consistent policy to achieve complete denuclearization and establish a permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula.
