8th repatriation ceremony for remains of Chinese troops to be held on September 2


- ROK-China director-level talks held in Qingdao on July 26



Republic of Korea (ROK) and China hold director-level talks in Qingdao on July 26 regarding 8th repatriation of remains of Chinese troops.



The ROK’s working-level delegation, represented by Kim Sang-jin, Director General for International Policy of the Ministry of National Defense, and China’s working-level delegation, represented by Li Jingxian, Vice President of International Cooperation of the Veteran Service Bureau, held working-level talks and reached an agreement on the repatriation of remains.



Under the agreement, the two sides will jointly hold a ceremony to place remains in a coffin on September 1, and remains and articles left by Chinese troops will be repatriated to China on September 2.



The two sides agreed to smoothly push ahead with the 8th repatriation ceremony for the remains of Chinese troops through an active consultation. 



On a humanitarian level, the two sides repatriated 716 sets of remains of Chinese troops between 2014 and 2020.
