Vice Minister Shin Beom-chul suggests mutually beneficial cooperation

“This will strengthen Korea-Ghana collaborations i

On the 22nd, Vice Minister of National Defense Shin Beom-cheol met with Ghanaian Defense Minister Dominic Nitiwul, who was in Korea for the Korea-Africa Defense Cooperation Conference, at the Ministry of National Defense in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, and discussed ways to cooperate in national security and the defense industry.

As this first visit of Minister Nitiwul's to South Korea follows the attendance of Deputy Minister of Defense Kofi Amankwa-Manu at the Seoul Security Dialog (SDD) on September 2022, Vice Minister Shin assessed that collaboration between the two nations is progressing. It was proposed the two countries continue their mutually beneficial collaborations in areas such as personnel exchange, peacekeeping operations, and the defense industry. Minister Nitiwul expressed agreement with Vice Minister Shin's views and anticipated that the meeting would provide a chance to strengthen bilateral national security and defense industry cooperation.

Vice Minister Shin asked Ghana, a friendly country, to actively support Korea's efforts to host the 2030 Busan World Expo, and Minister Nitiwul responded that he would express Korea's stance to relevant ministries upon his return home.

This is the first time for Ghana's defense minister to visit South Korea's defense ministry since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1977.
