[Navy] Quick detection of enemy air-cushion vehicle and perfect destruction

 

war-scale combined maritime action training 

 

The Navy held a war-scale combined maritime action training with the US attack helicopter unit of the US 2nd Army Division in Korea in the West Sea on August 24.


For this training, the 2nd Naval Fleet deployed 7 surface vessels including 2 units of Patrol Killer Guided missiles (400 ton class PKGs), 4 units of Patrol Killer Medium (150 ton class PMK) and LINX maritime operational helicopter, while the U.S. 2nd Army Division deployed a total of 8 units including Apache (AH-64) and Kiowa helicopter (OH-58).


The training with the special warfare unit onboard proceeded with quick detection of penetrating enemy force that infiltrate at high speed through northwest islands and the west coast, and destruction by Korean Navy and the US army aviation forces, focusing on Maritime Counter Special Operation Force (MCSOF).


In addition, the Korean Naval Fleet also had a live-fire warship drill as well.


Through this training, both participating forces mastered combined operational procedures, such as aircraft guiding on the sea, and improved interoperability between the combined forces.


Captain Seo Seong-ho, the Commander of the 23rd battle squadron who organized the training, said “The Korea-U.S. combined forces have established plans to prepare for any possible provocations based on the enemy's capabilities, and been mastering them through actual drills.
