Korea-U.S.-Japan hold director-level video teleconference

On August 5, defense officials from Republic of Korea, the U.S. and Japan held a video teleconference (VTC) to share information related to North Korea’s two missile launches on the 3rd and policy cooperation plans.

The conference was attended by representatives such as deputy director general for the MND’s International Policy Bureau Park Chul-gyun, principal director for East Asia at the U.S. Department of Defense Christopher Johnstone, and principal director of the defense policy bureau at Japan's Ministry of Defense Koji Kano.

The three countries, Republic of Korea, the U.S. and Japan, agreed that the recent missile launch by the North is an obvious provocative act violating the United Nations Security Council Resolution, as well as a serious threat to peace and stability in the region, including the Korean Peninsula.

They also censured the missile experiment and agreed to continue to share information related to the North Korean missile threat, while closely cooperating with each other.
