Discussing the development of military exchange and friendship


The Korean and UAE navies promised to continue omni-directional cooperation and accompanied growth between both countries. The Korean and UAE navies held Navy-to-Navy Council at the Navy Headquarters of Gyeryongdae on May 26 and discussed a plan for development of military cooperative exchange and friendship promotion.  

 

On that day, the six UAE Navy representatives, including Rear Admiral Abdullah,  the chief of the operational training unit of UAE Navy, paid a courtesy visit to Hwang, Gi-cheol, the Navy chief of staff, and then held a conference with 15 Korean Navy representatives including Park, Gyeong-il, the deputy chief of staff for planning of Navy Headquarters.  

 

At the council, both countries exchanged their opinions on an antisubmarine doctrine and  education system, a plan for cooperation in the submarine field, a plan for cooperation between both countries in the Aden Bay anti-piracy operation, etc.

 

The UAE Navy contingent visited Jinhae naval base including a nine submarine flotilla on the 27th. On the 28th and 29th, they planned to join the Korea Defense Technology Exhibition to be held at Kintex in Ilsan, Gyeonggi-do, after visiting defense industry companies. The UAE Navy contingent was then scheduled to leave Korea via Incheon International Airport on the 30th.

 

The Korean Navy has been improving cooperative exchange and friendship with the UAE Navy since 2008. Korean Navy Cheonghae Unit receive varied support from UAE Abu Dhabi Port when troops are dispatched and has conducted combined opportunity training 10 times.
