The 16th Cheonghae unit, Munmu the Great Ham, started its mission in the Gulf of Aden

The 16th Cheonghae unit, Munmu the Great Ham, sent to the Gulf of Aden to protect Korean vessels and people, traded places with the 15th Gang Gam-chan Ham and got into the mission on June 16. The 16th Cheonghae unit will in particular perform a role as a flagship of Combined Task Force 151(CTF-151), an operating force against pirates of the Combined Maritime Forces(CMF).

Moreover, Rear Admiral Cho Young-joo, the commander of CTF-151, who successfully led the pre-dawn mission in the Gulf of Aden, will join the Munmu the Great Ham until the end of August and take the lead of combined training and operations and information exchange among the participating countries in anti-piracy operations.

Captain Kim Jung-hyun, the commander of Cheonghae unit, said “we will complete the historical mission protecting Korean vessels and people.”
