The Marine Corps conducting a combined training with multinational forces

The Marine Corps said, on June 18, that it is participating in Khann Quest, a combined training with multinational forces, held at Five Hills Training Area near Ulan Bator, Mongolia, from June 20 to July 1.

Marines are planning to promote military exchanges among the multinational forces and upgrade the world peacekeeping operations(PKO) capabilities as well through this training.

The training, organized by the Mongolian army and sponsored by the U.S. Pacific command, is attended by approximately 1,200 troops from 21 different countries, including Mongolia, Korea, the U.S., China, the Czech Republic, and Indonesia.

In addition to 34 marines, eight soldiers of the armed forces are also engaging in this training to focus on learning the UN standard small-unit tactical operation, humanitarian support and supporting activities against disaster in a virtual troubled region.

The training will consist of Field Training Exercise (FTX) for practice and evaluation of the UN standard small-unit tactical operation, Command Post Exercise (CPX) for response to troubles and disaster situations in a virtual country, and medical support activity for local residents.

Lieutenant Colonel Ham Young-du, the team leader, said, “I hope that this combined training with the multinational forces will be a good chance to increase the profile of the Marine Corps and Korean Army, which contribute to world peace.”
