Minister Suh Wook met with UAE’s Vice Chief of Staff

The two sides expressed appreciation for the unremitting cooperation between the two countries despite the COVID-19 situation;

Agreed to continue exchanges and communication in each field 

On October 19, Minister of National Defense Suh Wook met with Al Mazrouei, Vice Chief of Staff of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), at the main building of the ministry, located in Yongsan, Seoul.

Suh and Al Mazrouei shared opinions on comprehensive ways to cooperate in the area of national defense, including bilateral cooperation on the defense industry under discussion. The UAE’s Vice Chief of Staff visited Korea to participate in the ‘Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition 2021 (Seoul ADEX 2021).’

Citing the fact that the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the UAE had concluded a ‘special strategic partnership,’ the two sides both expressed their substantial appreciation for the bilateral cooperation between the two countries in the areas of national defense and defense industry even in the COVID-19 situation. They also agreed to continue exchanges and communication in each field, in order to enhance ROK-UAE cooperation on national defense and the defense industry.

“I look forward to discussing ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the area of national defense with the UAE’s Minister of State for Defense Affairs Al Bowardi at the ninth ROK-UAE joint high-level military committee (JHMC) meeting, slated to be held in Seoul at the end of this year,” Suh said at the meeting.
